It's amazing how big he's getting. He wants to have a say in everything and knows what he wants. Or at least he thinks he does but then changes his mind 2 secs later just because he can and it's interesting to see the power it could give him. So it's often about tricking him a bit to get him to think he want what you want him to want to do. Kind of like I already do with J :P
Alexander is also very mom sick a lot of the time. One morning he dragged J out of the kitchen and then pulled me in there instead. I did some research the Oedipus phase should be for another year or so so not sure what exactly that is about.
We've had a good long stretch where getting him to sleep was really easy both day and night time, and you totally forget how hard it can be and how hard it was as soon as it's not there anymore. But this last week he's been testing boundaries to see what's possible. Yesterday he'd almost 'given up' when he pooped his diaper so I had to get him up and change him. That was a big win for him it seamed from almost drowsing off he was the energizer bunny again. Damn.
Oh and the geek in me loves that when he gets his Darth Vader socks or slippers on he makes Darth Vader breathing sounds XD How cool is that?!! I'm still working on "The owls are not what the seem" at the Zoo but I do get hoots ...

I've been home alone w Alexander the last 2 evenings. After putting A down I've re-watching Angel. Found it fitting now that Dollhouse was cancled. I'm at season 4 and I'm already tired of evil Cordy anf Connor. Vincent seems like a totally different person on Mad Men. But I love Wes!
Will have to finish Buffy as well soon.

So today Alexander turned 2. I can't believe it. At the same time it seems like yesterday he was a baby and at the same time it seems like another lifetime.
We had the family by for layercakes and homemade buns. A helped making them. It was great fun.
He got some great gifts - some books and some Duplo. I'd also bought him some very cute pants that he wore - pixs will follow.
After sending the guest home I've gone to see Royksopp live. I'm so beat but I'm really looking forward to seeing them again.

Well it went really well being alone with Alexander. It was like he new we were alone so he shouldn't push it. He was at his best behavior all the time. We just had one incident:
I don't know if you see where this is going - full diaper + squirming around. Yes when we got home it was all over. And before I could get him out of the dirty clothes and hose him down it was all over the bathroom and me. Really disgusting! And instead of him burning off some energy I was the one sweating and running around, cleaning everything!
Besides that it was a great weekend. J got home a day early which was really nice. And as I said Alexander was amazing. We had lots of fun. He's really at a funny age. He's learning so many new words and is trying hard to actually say things. And he wants to help setting the table, making dinner, putting clean clothes where they're supposed to be.
A funny thing though - not having had any trouble with Alexander while J was away it was interesting to see that as soon as J was back he started acting up again. So to draw the line we had a match of "who's more stubborn" me and him. Of course I won, and he's back to sleeping through the night.
NFL season has started and that's awesome. Pats aren't doing too good but I hope it's just start up jitters.
Another season that is getting started is most TV series. I'm very exited. I was a bit disappointed by how True Blood ended.
Oh and I read all 4 Twilight Saga books in a few weeks. I LOVE them!
Last weekend the 3 of us went to the Zoo. I somehow managed to make myself the spectacle instead of the animals. I twisted my ankle and fainted from the pain. Alexander of course got really scared. But I felt it coming - the fainting - so I managed to sit down before I fell to minimize the damages. I had the doctor look at it and nothing is broken but it's a textbook picture of a bad sprain.
So I haven't been very mobile these last few days. It's getting better every day though so hopefully soon I'll be able to play around with Alexander again. At the moment he gets to watch way too much dvd. Of course he loved this so he's not complaining.
I got J concert tickets for Tori Amos for his birthday. He decided to bring me on the extra ticket even though I don't know her music that well. It was quite good. She's a bit odd but very talented. And the concert was in the Opera house here in Cph and I haven't been there before so that was a bonus.

I already put them all in albums and divided them into who's getting what. Very efficient! I'm considering seeing my dad after work today or maybe tomorrow before Alexander's nap to give him his pile of pictures. We haven't been to see him since his birthday in February.
Alexander and I are home alone. J's away with work Thursday through Sunday. We've had some issues with getting Alexander to sleep. Well not much when we put him down to sleep but he wakes up in the middle of the night crying like mad until either J or me goes in to sleep with him. It's been both really sweet that he wants to hug all night but also very draining sleep wise. I've been forgetting things and one morning I'd put my bike helmet on the wrong way cause I was so tired and scatterbrained. I only noticed cause my reflection looked very silly when I drove past a huge window.
So I've been a bit anxious about being alone with Alexander for 4 days. Especially since my mom and aunt and uncle who normally jump at the opportunity to take care of Alexander and relieve me for a few hours are all away on a prologued weekend.
But he was such a sweetheart last night. Not fussing much when I put him down *and* sleeping through the night. Maybe he somehow knew that being on reduced capacity he had to play nice. I hope I'm not jinxing it by writing this!

So today I wrote the company and asked where my package was, if they would send me a new one or return my money. They emailed me back that they had received the package return with a note from the postal service that the recipient was "unknown at the address". I've lived at this address for 3 years now, it's the address I'm registered at with all authorities and my name is at the mail box and on our front door so that is plainly insane.
I'm not sure what will happen with my pictures - if they'll try to resend or refund my money, but I filled a complaint with the postal service. It's not the first time this has happened. It was the same with my contact lenses for ex. It's so frustrating cause I can't now use them and I'm not sure my complaint will change anything. ARGH!!!

The Men Who Stare at Goats
I keep watching it and it makes me laugh every time. Having Clooney state he's a Jedi warrior to Mr Obi Wan - simply WORLD CLASS!!! And the "It's okay. We're Americans. We're here to help you" scene .... again as I said I laugh every time

That is also why I'm behind on picture updates :)
In other news J had his first day on the new job yesterday and it went really well. So that's really good. You know the feeling when you start a new place that it'll take some time before you really get into things , but he said it felt like he could step right in. So well done him!
J's turning 40 this month - 28th, and we're having a big party on August 1st. Alexander is gonna be there during the day but is going home with my mother to spend the night so that J and I can enjoy the party - and the clean up the day after :)

I was home alone this weekend and had a great time. And oddly enough it seemed long. I guess it's because I got much more done just for me than I normally do.
Friday after work I met up with my mother to pick up a present she's bought for Alexander. It's a running-bike for kids to learn balance and even thought they are recommended for kids 2+ years she insisted to get it for him now. And as always with her she went all out and bought the fanciest one - only the best for her grandson!
Afterwards we sat in a park and had ice coffee and some cake before splitting up.
I had considered doing all sort of stuff on Friday but it was so hot that I decided to stick to the cool of the apartment. I watched Caprica. Didn't like it. Except a few things at the ending but I won't spoil you.
I'd finished watching Merlin during the week so I thought I'd give another show a try. I've been recommended Fringe but didn't know much about it except that it stared Joshua Jackson. His face reminds me of an old boyfriend. Anyways I watched a 5 or 6 episodes. I'm not sure I *love* the show but I definitely like it a lot. The odd mixture of CSI/Alias/X-files added a raving mad scientist pulled out from a mental institution.
Saturday I slept in - it was awesome. To be able to wake up and decide I wanted to sleep more and stay in bed.
When I got up I went shopping. It was really odd there were almost no people there. Normally it would be crazy busy on a Saturday but I guess with the heat and industrial summer vacation time people were either at the beach or on holidays so I had it more or less to myself. I got a pair of shoes, some cloth for trying to start sowing again. Not that I was ever very good at it but I want to give it a try. And I bought some books and painting supplies. Cause that's another creative outlet I've wanted to try out for some time. I gave it a go a year ago but wasn't really happy with the result and left it at that. I guess I feel paintings in general is a bunch of pretty colours splashed on a canvas and basically anyone could do that. I mean even very renowned artists when you look at their art pieces sometimes I can't help but think - even a kid could have done that.
That's always a good basis to try out something new right?! ;) Well I continued with Fringe while painting. I think the combination of my mind being occupied with something else while I just paint was good, cause I actually am quite satisfied with the results - I made 4 paintings. Might want to brush up on 1 or 2 but all in all I really like them.
For dinner I ordered sushi. I *love* sushi! And I ater that I made homemade ice coffee - espresso and ice cream. Yummy!
Alexander & J returned around noon Sunday. Even though they'd had a blast I felt like I'd been missed as well.
Last night I finished the first season of Fringe - I know I'm crazy. But that's how I like it. Wander what show to try out next :)

* J & I are going out for dinner tonight with some friends and then to see Depeche Mode in concert.
* This weekend J & A are going to visit J's mother along with his sister and her two boys, so I'm going to be home alone from Friday until Sunday. I'm really looking forward to it. There's so much I want to do I almost feel stressed trying to fit everything in there on such short notice :) There'll definitely be some shopping, so good food (sushi!), some WoW .... and much, much more :) Yay!

Their meeting dragged out however so I had time to go home and watch the season finale of Lost. OMG! is all I can say.
The dinner was really good and it was nice to talk to everyone in non work surroundings. And just going out like that is nice since I don't get to do it enough these days.
Saturday J were going out. The weather was dreadful but Alexander and I were driving each other crazy inside the apartment so we went out in the rain and had the playground all to our selves.
In the evening Anne came by for sushi and the Eurovision Song Contest Finale. As always Alexander loved the company and sushi is always good :)
Yesterday J was totally hung over. I told him that was the best way to not get to go another time cause one thing was going out for a whole day is one thing and totally ok, but if it turns into a 2 day deal cause he would be totally wasted the next day as well it wouldn't go down well. After that he felt much better :P
We went to visit Jens, Gitte, Solvei and their newest addition to the family baby girl Rosa. Alexander was very excited about the baby on one hand but got totally jealous when I held her. We all thought he came to look at her more closely when it turned out he was just jealous and hit her. I was his mother. I shouldn't be holding other babies! She was a good sport and didn't get too upset. Neither did the parents.
J's in Poland now with work. He'll be back tomorrow evening though. I hope Alexander will be at his best behavior in the mean time :)

In other news one of J's uncles died. I only met him once so it didn't affect me except for seeing how sad J has been. He's going to the funeral tomorrow. I can't go just having missed 1 week of work. I hope he'll be alright by himself. On the way back his mother and stepfather will join him though.
Life and death - The 2 things seems to go together. The ease the sad news J's stepsister Lykke gave birth to a baby son yesterday. It's her first and they are gonna name him Jakob. We're are gonna visit them tonight.
With the new camera we've taken a gazillion pictures this month so here's another picture update. A few teasers first:

This weekend was really nice. The sun was out and we had lots of birthdays to celebrate and attend. My uncle Niels and my sister-in-law Lene both had on Saturday. We went to celebrate Lene and Alexander enjoyed spending time with his cousins and playing outside.
Sunday Anne had invited to celebrate her birthday with an afternoon tea party. The food was lovely and the settings fit for the theme. Even though we celebrated Anne she had bought presents for the 3 kids there from NYC. Alexander got a Curious George in Doctor gear. He absolutely loved it.
He didn’t sleep much at all that night so I’m still tired even though he slept fine last night despite the thunderstorm. Only fair cause last night we went to visit Helle and Sofie (who’s 3 months older than A) and Alexander and Sofie really burned a lot of energy jumping in the couch among other things.
Pictures for all events will be posted as soon as I get the time :)
